Maintaining an ideal environment in a cell requires the constant movement of molecules in and out of the cell through the plasma membrane. The membrane is made up almost entirely of proteins and phospholipids. There is a phospholipid bilayer with inwardly directed hydrophobic lipid tails, and outwardly directed hydrophilic heads. The bilayer is made up of a variety of protein molecules. The proteins that occur on or in only one of the layers are called "extrinsic" proteins. The proteins that extend across both layers are called "intrinsic" proteins. This phospholipid layer can move it is fluid, and in surface...
by "adenosine triphosphate" which is built up from the broken down respiratory substrates. When the molecules of adenosine triphosphate are hydrolysed, energy is released for reactions where it is needed in the cells. The process of active transport occurs through the carrier proteins that span the membrane. The proteins accept the molecule, and then the molecule enters the cell by a change in shape of the carrier molecule

All cells require materials to pass in and out through the plasma membrane. All of these transport processes are essential for reactions to take place, and therefore, for life to exist.
An argument between two scientists ,one of them wanting to alter ageing in humans ,and generating life into a controlled environment: A* well, that was in 2000 wasn't it? But they could not see this happening …it was debated, but legalized in 2004. But this is outrageous. C* I haven't...

Biological or germ weapons are living organisms used for the military and intended to cause diseases or death in human, animal, or plant life. They are made up of organisms that are highly contagious and reproduce very quickly. The groups using germs as their weapons depend on their fast reproduction....

Aim: To conduct an experiment that conclusively shows how the concentration of the enzyme Catalase effects the rate of conversion of hydrogen peroxide into water. Introduction: Catalase behaves as a catalyst for the conversion of hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. Catalase is an example of a particularly...

If somebody had told me five years ago that I would spend all of my free time in front of my computer screen I would have called him crazy. For me outdoor life has always been much more interesting than staying at home. It took me just one night to...

Many individuals are born with defects due to genetic factors. Some such defects occur because the child inherits a defective gene, or genes from the parents. Others are caused through mutations- spontaneous changes that occur to a gene or chromosome. Environmental factors affecting the foetus during the uterine development may...
