Unfortunately I don't know much about Michael Hughes, I only know that he wrote "Small towns of Hampshire. The quote comes from a visitors leaflet in 1986; the point of a visitors leaflet is to attract people to Odiham, to do this it will have to portray Odiham as great place to visit.
