In conclusion, it is evident that the all-encompassing light of sovereignty is forever present in the affairs and social policies of the Parti Québécois. The purpose of the Parti Québécois was to affirm a sovereign Québec state. The means in which they attempted and failed to convince Québécers was through societal manipulation of a balance. This attempt to transcend class divisions is more a characteristic of a populism than of social democracy. It is, therefore, the title of nationalist populism which is a more sensical designation than that of social democratic.
