The variable that I am going to base my investigation on is the concentration of hydrochloric acid. The concentration of acid is when you change the strength or the weakness of the acid. The concentrations of the acids are measured in moles for example 0.25moles, 0.5moles, 1mole and 1.5moles. My variable is the concentration of hydrochloric acid I have to keep the other non-variables the same like the temperature, surface area or size of calcium carbonate marble chips and the weight of calcium carbonate marble chips, this is in recognition of a fair test. If the...
clock as soon as you have closed the bung with the tube and gas syringe. It is easy because the gas syringe, bung and tube are all one piece. This method will also be much quicker so you could try more concentrations to get more data. This method and equipment set-up could have been used in the experiment this is one thing which could of improved my experiment and the investigation a lot. This new method could get rid of some errors, which I made in the experiment, which could have led to less anomalous results or none.

PLANNING AIM To find if changing changing the concentration of an acid will increase or decrease the rate of the reaction when marble is dissolved in hydrochloric acid. With the equation CaCO3 + 2HCl CaCl2 +H2O + CO2 HYPOTHESES A reaction occurs when particles collide. This...
