Statistics Coursework- Is there correlation between Goal difference, and average points per game of football matches? Aim: The aim of this investigation is to discover if there is positive correlation between the goal difference of a football team, and it's results. Clearly a successful team will win lots of games. As winning games adds to your goal difference, it is possible to suggest that teams with a higher difference may win more points per game? Possible improvements:
Have extra scatter diagrams which plot simply goals scored against average points or goals against against average points. This may give more information than simply goal difference.
Bigger sample from a larger parent population. Possibly include teams from Italy, Spain, and Holland
Possible stratified sample to see if playing styles do differ in different leagues/ countries.
Use only exact values in calculations, rather than values from the calculator.
