Every time the American government passes a law that effects all of America there are always people who are against it. If America had a mandatory draft for all Americans over the age of 18 the government would not only have to deal with the problems in Iraq, but also the draft could promote protests, strikes, and even possible violence in America. month soldiers will receive $500 for 3 and a half years. In total soldiers will receive $21,000 over this time period. My reasoning for not paying it all at once is because of America's debt. We are over a 9 trillion dollar debt and I feel that if we continue to borrow money from other countries, eventually they will stop helping us and possibly start a feud.

Having the American government pay previous soldiers in installments allows the American government to pay over a period of, and not go into to far of a bigger debt at once.
