A genome is all the DNA in an organism, including it's genes. Genes carry information for making all the proteins required by all organisms. These proteins determine, among other things, how the organism looks, acts, processes and fights infections. DNA is made up of four similar chemicals bases, adenine , Thymine , cytosine , and guanine that are repeated millions or billions of times throughout a genome. The human genome has three billion base pairs. The order of these base pairs are extremely important and determine everything in an organism. The Human Genome Project started in the mid-1980's and was...

Chromosome 5 Diseases linked to chromosome 5 are; colorectal cancer, basal cell carcinoma, acute myelogenous leukemia, salt-resistant hypertension, and a type of dwarfism.
Chromosome 16 Diseases linked to chromosome 16 are; breast and prostate cancers, Crohns disease and adult polycystic kidney disease.
After the full genome sequencing is done there are some things we still will not know such as; Gene number and exact locations and functions, gene regulation, DNA sequence organization, interaction of proteins in complex molecular machines, and developmental genetics, genomics.
Millions of people all over the planet suffer from poverty and starvation. One very interesting but experimental solution to the problem of world hunger is genetically engineered food. The process involves the crossbreeding of crops in a laboratory with species that are not plant like. Say for example, that a...

Xenon is a rare, colorless, odorless, tasteless, chemically unreactive gas. It is one of the inert gas elements found in group 0 of the periodic table. Xenon was long considered incapable of chemical reaction, but in 1962 Neil Bartlett, a Canadian chemist, reported synthesis of xenon hexafluoroplatinate, XePtF6, a true...

Since the dawn of humanity, there has been a single question that has perplexed even the greatest of philosophers and scientists. Humans are, by nature, interested in their past. As a result every civilization through out time has sought to find the origin of life, and answered it to meet...
