All Canadians enjoy certain rights based on Canada"s tradition of democracy and respect for human dignity and freedom. These rights and freedoms are found in Canada"s Human Rights Codes and in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom. The federal government states that a landed immigrant cannot apply for a job in the federal government unless he/she becomes a citizen. Now the freedom of employment is still there but there is a limitation. The statute gives the immigrants enough lead to get a provincial position but they hinder their progress until they have become citizens of Canada.
