An investigation into how the amount of oxygen is produced by changing one variable effects the decomposition of Hydrogen Peroxide in the presence of the enzyme. Hydrogen peroxide Water + Oxygen 2 H2O2 2H2O + O2 This shows us that when the H2O2 has reacted with the catalyst this is what it produces. There are many ways in which the amount of oxygen produced could be affected. I believe that, surface area of the chip, temperature of liquid that is reacting, the concentration of the liquid or the amount used are going to be the major...
it was the best we were going to get, I think contamination was minor so that did not cause a problem. One problem with our preliminary experiments was that we had to change the Hydrogen peroxide because we felt that some were to old, and were probably not as concentrated. This could of seriously effected our main experiment with using one chemical but out of several bottles, to eliminate this we must get one bottle big enough for the whole experiment and use that one only; so that there is no change in the quality of the H2O2.

Investigation For this experiment we plan to investigate the effect of varying concentration of a certain sugar solution on the amount of osmotic activity between the solution and a potato core of a given size. Osmosis is defined as the net movement of water or any other...

The American Cancer Society estimates that 18,300 Americans will be diagnosed with malignant brain, spinal cord and other nervous system tumors in 2003. Approximately 13,100 people in the United States will die from brain, spinal cord, and other nervous system tumors in 2003. Brain and spinal cord tumors occur most...

INTRODUCTION This piece of biology coursework is about how cells use osmosis, how, why and what affect it has on the cells in question. The example I am going to explore this in and to illustrate this is the experiment of potato chips of the same length in...

Aim: I am going to investigate how different surface areas, and therefore enzyme concentration, of the same volume of potato affects rate of reaction, when placed in 10ml hydrogen peroxide. Prediction: As the surface area increases, so do the amount of enzymes, which are biological catalysts that...

My Views on the Process of Evolution For many years people have asked the questions, "How did we get here?", and "How did mankind come to exist?" Astronomers, philosophers, and even mathematicians have come up with explanations. I believe in the theory of Theistic evolution. It is the belief...
