Investigation For this experiment we plan to investigate the effect of varying concentration of a certain sugar solution on the amount of osmotic activity between the solution and a potato core of a given size. Osmosis is defined as the net movement of water or any other solution's molecules from a region in which they are highly concentrated to a region in which they are less concentrated. The water concentration, if left long enough will come to a state of equilibrium where the amount of water in each region is equal. This movement must take place across...
saturation point of the cores. The range of concentrations was adequate but I would possibly create more concentrations if I repeated the experiment so that I would have more varied results, i.e. 0.10m, 0.15m, 0.20m, and so on.

This test showed us that plant cells perform osmosis, and that; osmosis will eventually create equilibrium if given enough time.
To improve this test if doing it again I would, use fresher potatoes, and more variations of the concentration of the sucrose solution. Also I could try adding another variable, length of time in the sucrose/water solution.
Prediction I predict that the more catalase used will speed up the reaction rate between the catalase and hydrogen peroxide. On a graph, as the concentration of catalase is increased the rate of reaction will increase forming a series of positively correlated lines, increasing in gradient as the catalase...

Several methods may be used to prevent aeolian erosion, to increase the height and stability of existing dunes, to repair damaged dunes and to encourage sand accumulation. Where fresh sand deposits around obstructions such as grass clumps show conditions conducive to natural dune formation, plantings of native vegetation or...

Crop rotation is the practice of growing a series of dissimilar types of crops in the same space in sequential seasons to avoid the buildup of pathogens and pests that often occurs when one species is continuously cropped. Crop rotation also seeks to balance the fertility demands of various...

Prediction Osmosis is defined as ?â??the movement of water molecules across a partially permeable membrane from a region of high water concentration to a region of low water concentration In a high concentration of water the amount of solute e.g. sugar is low. This could be called...
