Definition of Osmosis Osmosis is the movement of water molecules across a partially permeable membrane from a region of high water concentration to a region of low water concentration. Hypothesis I predict that the lower the concentration of the sugar solution in the test tube, the larger the mass of the potato tube. I think this because, during osmosis, the water molecules pass from a higher concentration, which [in this case] would be the water in the test tube, to a lower concentration, which, in this case would be the potato tube. Therefore the tube/s in...
sure it was well away from other people, I made sure that I handled the test tubes carefully so they did not break; I made sure that I did my experiment in a space so that I would not collide with other people.

3 Improvements for future
In the future, I could improve by repeating the experiment more often, showing more examples of osmosis, i.e. other experiments and giving more background knowledge to show how much I know already about the topic.
I could also plot more graphs which would increase my plotting skills.
Introduction: In this piece of coursework I will be attempting to discover what affects the digestion of starch. There are four main factors that affect the digestion of starch. 1. Temperature of the solution 2. PH of the solution 3. Surface area of the starch...

I plan to see if the body size of an animal affects its heat loss. I am going to do this by using three glass beakers with various amounts of boiling water in them. I will then see which beaker looses its heat the fastest or the slowest....

Scientific Back round: Osmosis is defined as the net movement of water or any other solution's molecules from a region in which they are highly concentrated to a region in which they are less concentrated. This movement must take place across a partially permeable membrane such as...

Aim: I am going to investigate how different surface areas, and therefore enzyme concentration, of the same volume of potato affects rate of reaction, when placed in 10ml hydrogen peroxide. Prediction: As the surface area increases, so do the amount of enzymes, which are biological catalysts that...
