By the end of the First World War America was regarded as the most powerful and richest country in the world. In the 1920's the United States economy was booming. The Americans tried not to become too involved in the First World War. They lent money to their allies with good interest rates for themselves and sold arms and munitions to Britain and France. Huge amounts of foodstuffs were exported and all this one way trade gave America a real boost that brought prosperity to the people. However there was still a high percentage that still struggled to survive through the era of a vast expansion of new consumer goods, electrical goods and technology. Sooner or later, everyone who could afford a car would already have one! Prosperity is a cycle made by mass producing goods that people want to buy but because America used machines to make the process more efficient a large number of people were left unemployed or on low wages. Therefore not all people in America prospered from the boom in the 1920s.
