Both sources would be useful for a historian studying Kristallnacht. Source A is a summary of an account written by a Nazi journalist in 1954. It tells us that Goebbels planned the attack to win back Hitler's support. "It was clear that Goebbels, who was at the time out of favour with Hitler, was trying to win back Hitler's support" The source is written by Fritz Hesse a Nazi journalist. He would most likely be in favour of the Nazis. The source is quite damning towards then and this suggests the source is reliable as a Nazi supporter...
evidence to prove that the public were unaware of what was going to happen early morning 10th November 1938 and that the majority of them were horrified by what was happening. I believe that it is far more likely that Kristallnacht was a Nazi plan that was carried out by the SS and the SA. Further proof of this was the separation of all Jewish males to be sent to Concentration camps. German public would not be able to do this themselves and so I believe that the German people were not involved in the event of Kristallnacht.
